Voici les news d'avril 2010.

Felicia Mayne were present in Caraman on 28 Feb for the Board Meeting of the veterans of the AFFAA (Anciens des Forces Francaises en Allemagne et Autriche). The theme of the day was ‘The fall of the Berlin Wall, a Victory for Democracy’. Meredith, our flag bearer for the event, is working on a film recounting the cooperation during WWII of a French resistance group and American military in the Tarn. Le consul americain a Toulouse, David Brown, Meredith Wheeler (Porte Drapeau) et FEU president Felicia Mayne etaient a Caraman pour l‟Assemble Generale des anciens des Forces Francaises en Allemagne et en Autriche (AFFAA) don‟t le theme etait “La Chute du Mur de Berlin, Victoire de la Democracie”. Meredith, notre Porte Drapeau pour cet evenement, prepare un documentaire sur la cooperation, pendant la deuxieme guerre mondiale, d‟un groupe de resistants francais et des militaires americains dans le Tarn.

FEU helped organize an exchange of 10 young musicians from Chicago, Illinois. The musicians (13 to 16 years old) sponsored by the Chicago Orchestra arrived in Toulouse on March 27th. They will practice together with their young counterparts from the Conservatoire de Musique in Toulouse and give a concert on April 1st. FEU organized and conducted a visit to Carcassonne Sunday March 28th with the special help of FEU VP Pascal Bardet and President Felicia Mayne. FEU lodged the 3 adult chaperones from Chicago: 2 mothers and a music teacher during their stay. FEU a participe a l‟échange de 10 jeunes musiciens de Chicago, Illinois. Ces musiciens, âgés de 13 a 16 ans, sponsorisés par l‟Orchestre de Chicago, joueront avec leurs partenaires français du Conservatoire de Toulouse. Ensemble ils donneront un concert au Conservatoire le 1 avril. FEU a organise une visite de Carcassonne, tres appreciee par tous, le dimanche 28 mars avec la participation de VP Pascal Bardet et President Felicia Mayne. FEU participle egalement au logement des accompagnateurs adultes de Chicago (deux mamans et une professeur de musique).

„AMERICANA‟ on Radio Occitania
Regretfully we are suspending the Americana show. Since June 2009, the show has been growing and went from one to two weekly broadcasts. We have been unable to find an assistant or replacement for Erica Smith who now has too many family and professional obligations to continue alone. We thank Erica for her professionalism and her dedication. Radio Occitania leaves the doors open to FEU, so there is an interested party out there….
Just dare to do it! We thank the US Consulate in Toulouse for their kind support of this project. And again, THANK YOU, ERICA! Nous regrettons de vous announcer la suspension de notre emission Americana sur Radio Occitania. Depuis Juin 2009, l‟emission a grandi d‟une a deux emissions par semaine. Nous n‟avons pas pu trouver un volontaire pour remplacer ou assister Erica Smith qui a maintenant trop d‟obligations familiales et professionnelles pour continuer seule. Nous remercions Erica pour son travail professionnel et pour sa dedication. Les portes de Radio Occitania nous restent ouvertes alors s‟il y a un amateur de radio parmi vous… osez prendre cette opportunite unique. Nous remercions le Consulat US a Toulouse pour leur soutien. Et ecore MERCI, ERICA.

Coming up/Bientot: FEU Section Jeunes VP, Candice Lemaire, is organizing social events with ESC Toulouse for MBA students from Georgia State University who will be in Toulouse from May 17 to June 4 then for Arizona State University from May 31st to June 4th. La Section Jeunes organize des rencontres avec ESC Toulouse pour des etudiants en MBA de Georgia State University qui sejourneront a Toulouse du 17 mai au 4 juin, puis pour les etudiants de Arizona State University du 31 mai au 4 juin.
